Anatomy of a Blog

Don’t have a clue of what some of these items are? No worries! Below is a “map” I put together of a standard blog. It shows you the name and position of most elements on a blog. If you want more information on a specific item, details for each can be found below the map.





Favicon - $10
The Favicon is the tiny image you see next to a website’s title on a web browser tab. For example, Blogger’s Favicon is a tiny orange box containing a white B.


Header - $30
The header can be found top and center of any blog. Sometimes it is just text with a border, sometimes it’s a rectangle image, and sometimes it’s an illustration integrated with the background. A good header should state or complement the title of your blog to give your readers a small idea about you and what they can expect to find there on your blog.

Get a picture of you as a cartoon! You may choose an image from iStock, and then I can customize it to fit your needs. I can change coloring, add or remove items, etc. Below is an example:

Drop Down Menu Bar - $50
The Menu Bar is normally found below the header. It can be designed in a variety of ways (sometimes it’s integrated with the header image itself, sometimes it appears as tabs, etc). A menu bar contains links frequently used by you and/or your readers. Your menu bar can link to anywhere on the web!


Signature - $10
Your signature is a personal way to sign off at the end of your post. You can have it say your name, or just about anything else you'd like.


Social Networking Icons - $5 each
Social Networking Icons are handy mini-buttons that can be placed in your sidebar linking right to your other sites on the web!

Twitter Widget - $25
Display your latest tweet on Twitter in a stylish widget in your sidebar designed to match your blog. For an example, view my sidebar!


Sponsors Section - $30
Earn some extra cash by displaying small advertisements in your sidebar! Each installation includes placeholder ads that match your blog and let your readers know they have the opportunity to advertise with you. For an example, view my sidebar.


Custom Post/Sidebar Title Font - $30
Use any font imaginable for your post titles and sidebar titles! You may customize the color and size of the font as well.


Button - $20
A Button is a small image that, when clicked on, takes that individual to your blog or website. These are traded among friends and displayed on each others’ blogs.

Background - $30
The background is the image you see behind all the content of the blog.
